Summer of Fun!

We have lots of weekends booked up. Camping, little league all star tournaments, more camping, and yes more camping. Somewhere I have to find a free weekend to roof my parents house.

Too many social networks!

Hard to keep track of them all. Quick update...Baseball & Softball/Soccer/Baseball/Soccer/catch-up on yard and house work/Soccer/catch-up on more yard and house work. That's my week in a nutshell. I only have 2 off days a week to do what needs to be done. I see no end in site.

It's Been a While

Haven't posted since September 30th...wow, that's quite some time. Well, no excuses. Lately we've been coming down from the holidays and now getting back to our family routines which include work, school, and the kids' sports. Sunday Gage had his first ever wrestling tournament. He wanted to wrestle this year instead of playing basketball so he's giving it is best shot. He lost his first match 6-3, won his second match 8-7 with a last second take down, and then lost his third match 4-1. He was quite devastated. Tears ensued but I reassured him that I was extremely proud of him. He's only been wrestling now for about 6 weeks and 2 of the 3 kids he wrestled have been at it for 2 and 3 years respectively. We'll be at it again this Saturday and hopefully he's learned a bit to help him come out on top. Here's a couple pics from the very long day...

KC has started basketball, but just camp for now. As soon as the games start we'll get some pictures.

Friendship

I received the following from a friend and now I'm sending it out to all my friends...

1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you sad.

2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile -- I will know you are thinking of something that I would probably want to be involved in.

4. When you are scared -- I will rag you about it every chance I get until you're NOT.

5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.

6. When you are confused -- I will try to use only little words.

7. When you are sick -- Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall -- I will laugh at your clumsy ass.... but I'll help you up.

9. This is my oath.... I pledge it to the end. 'Why?' you may ask;
because you are my friend.

Friendship is like peeing in your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth.

Weekend Update

Let's see...what have we done this weekend? Well Friday night we didn't do much of anything. We picked up the kids after work and basically came home and veg'd out.

Saturday morning and afternoon the kids had Soccer games. Gage did very well scoring 2 goals and pretty much dominating in all aspects of his game. They won their game 3 to 1. KC also did very well, but unfortunately his team came out on the short end of the stick. His team has like 19 players so the coach had setup 2 squads. KC was on squad 1 which started. At the end of the 1st quarter they were losing 1 to 0. Mind you it's raining like hell, has been all weekend. The second period starts and squad 2 goes in. The other team scores like 5 goals. It's like holy crap, what the hell happened? 3rd period KC's squad goes in and they score 3 goals and the other team doesn't score any. Score is now 5 to 3 but in the 4th quarter squad 2 goes back in and the other team scores another 3 goals. Oh well...can't win them all, but squad one did do very well. So we head back home soaking wet and get the kids bathed and changed. Krista spruce ourselves up a bit because we got to have a night to ourselves. Aunt Megan agreed to watch the boys overnight so Krista and I could have some alone time. We head to Saginaw and make our first stop to Cork-n-Ale. There I picked up some ingredients to make some home brew and a case of seasonal brew. Krista got a couple bottles of wine and I topped it off with some much needed home brew supplies. From there we headed to Bennigans for dinner. Dinner was real nice and thanks to a gift card and the restaurant being very nice due to a couple minor mistakes, we got out of the for $16. That included the tip! We each had a drink, an appetizer, and a full meal. Talk about a deal. So from there we headed to Sams Club to pickup some necessities (laundry soap, fabric softener, softener salt, etc.) After that I decided to spoil my wife a bit and we headed to Kohl's to let her pick out an outfit. She insisted that I get something also so I figured what the hell, I picked up some slacks, a shirt and tie for work. We also got the boys their fall jackets. We finally left Kohl's and Krista mentioned going to a movie. It was already 9:30pm and I knew that if I went to a movie I'd probably fall asleep. I know, I know...I'm getting old. So I suggested we go to Starbucks for a coffee. She was all for that because Starbucks is located in the book store. So we hung out in the book store for a bit and enjoyed our beverage. That was pretty much the end of our evening. It was real nice spending some quality time with my wife. We don't get to do that nearly enough.

Sunday has been busy also. I picked up the boys and took them to get their hair cut. Then I did the grocery shopping and came home for lunch. I started to finish up some homework while I watched the Detroit Lions self destruct. What else is new? And then it was time to make some beer. I brewed a Pale Ale today. It's been a long time since I last brewed. Too long actually, but there never seems to be enough time. So now I'm going to finish up the night watching football, drinking beer, and just chilling out.

I want to make a shout out to some family down south. Vanna...I hope you and your family are okay. We've been thinking about all of you with Hurricane Ike and its' destruction. If you read this, please let me know how you are all doing. I also want to send my thoughts and prayers to my cousin David Millner. He's my mothers nephew and just moved down to Houston a few years ago (relocated from Seattle). I know he'll never see this, but our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family also.

That's it for now.

Practice, Practice, and more Practice!

KC is getting ready for his first ever deer season. We got his youth bow setup a few weeks ago and have been practicing every day. Here's how he did last night...

With any luck, he'll do that good when it counts!
